In 1920, Mario Maserati, the fourth brother, designed the iconic Maserati emblem. The trident was modeled after the trident held by the statue of Neptune in the Piazza Maggiore in Bologna, Italy.

The first Maserati car, the Tipo 26, was built in 1926 and started the brand’s legacy of producing luxurious racing vehicles.
